Overview Join us for an extraordinary journey through Africa's breathtaking landscapes as you develop your photography and filmmaking skills with our expert team. In this comprehensive course, you'll have the unique opportunity to combine both the Environmental and Media program with our Wildlife Filmmaking experience, allowing you to explore diverse platforms and captivate the beauty of African wildlife. Working alongside an environmental and media company that specializes in raising awareness for African-specific environmental issues, you'll engage with a variety of clients, such as broadcasters, corporations, NGOs, and media outlets. Our combined photography and filmmaking adventure runs over the course of 1 month, with the first and last weeks spent on pre-production and post-production work. The remaining 9 days are dedicated to living on a reserve and filming your wildlife documentary. The program is structured with a balance of theoretical and practical learning, beginning and ending in Mossel Bay for pre-production and post-production work, with a 9-day immersive experience living on a reserve. What you’ll do Develop practical skills in land-based and underwater photography to build a versatile portfolio of authentic wildlife and travel imagery. Participate in client-based shoots to gain real-world experience in creating marketing materials for advertising and social media campaigns. Learn from professional photographers as you explore the Garden Route and capture Africa's diverse wildlife and scenery. Receive training in setting up your own business, including financial stability, business plans, and effective marketing strategies. For wildlife filmmaking enthusiasts, develop, film, and edit your own wildlife documentary in an African game reserve, including camera operation, directing, producing, scriptwriting, and broadcasting. By the end of the course, create a 5-minute documentary film to showcase your abilities and kickstart your career in wildlife filmmaking. Program structure 4-week experience with an emphasis on pre-production, production, and post-production activities. 9-day immersive reserve experience focused on capturing wildlife on film. Begin and end in Mossel Bay for pre-production and post-production work. Logistics Your home away from home will be a local Guesthouse located nearby, nestled within the Aalwyndal community with views of the Outeniqua Mountains and the ocean. The guesthouse has 8 bedrooms and provides access to living rooms, dining rooms, balconies, and work offices to support your time in South Africa. Costs and inclusions The cost of the programme is €5000 for the 4-week course.
