Job Title: RNII - MedSurg/Tele Float Pool Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg/Tele License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred but not required Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience; understanding of sterile field required Description: MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXPERIENCE. 50 MILE RADIUS RULE - NO LOCAL RATE. PROFILE REVIEW; MANAGER TO INTERVIEW. 7-10 days of time off requests, manager will not approve requests for 2 weeks or more. During the first week of onboarding, the traveler is required to pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within 2 attempts. If failed, the traveler will be unable to apply for 3 months. All Tele RNs are expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Travelers will only be considered who demonstrate competence in maintaining a sterile field. In addition to SIMs Lab, travelers will also receive education on lifts, restraints, and wound care, but these are not pass/fail. The Med Surg Tele Float Cluster supports multiple medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, and observation units, with typical ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:6. Travelers must understand that they will be floated to various units without the opportunity to refuse based on personal preference. Travelers may additionally float to other facilities that focus on med-surg telemetry. Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, specifically on Saturdays and Sundays. Holidays will be required based on unit needs. Shifts are scheduled 4 weeks in advance, but can change two weeks in advance based on hospital needs. There is no call requirement; if placed on standby due to low census, response time is 30 minutes. Travelers receive their assignments via text messaging service, and if this is not available, through phone calls. Each unit has a charge RN located in the area where assignments are distributed. RNs are expected to begin their shift have by 7 AM/7 PM to participate in shift huddles. All reports must be completed at the bedside, and a quality 2-person skin assessment will be conducted within the first 4 hours of the shift. The facility has the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system is Cerner. This position does not require a BSN.
