Job Summary

Surgical Technologist — Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technologist — Madison, WI. This position supports ophthalmology, ear, nose, and throat, plastic surgery, neuro, and oral surgical procedures while promoting patient safety throughout the surgical experience. The role prepares the operating room, assists the surgical team, and maintains instruments and supplies for patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Minimum of two years of scrub experience or equivalent relevant experience; completion of a surgical technologist program or two years of experience in a Surgical Technologist role in lieu of program completion; Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); experience with trauma procedures, including Level II trauma; required influenza vaccination, with medical or religious exemptions permitted.
• Preferred Qualifications: Community hospital experience and Level I trauma experience.
• Schedule: Day/evening 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, typically 6:40 a.m. to 7:10 p.m., with possible shifts from 10:40 a.m. to 11:10 p.m.; 36 hours per week. Weekday and weekend call responsibilities may be required, with possible holiday call. Orientation shifts may vary during the first one to two weeks.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, promoting patient safety during procedures, assisting surgeons, caring for patients throughout surgery, and maintaining surgical instruments and supplies. Clinical responsibilities include vitrectomy, open globe repair, abdominoplasty, deep inferior epigastric perforator flap breast reconstruction, free-flap procedures, laparoscopic procedures, facial fracture repair, sinus surgery, radical neck dissection, tracheostomy, septoplasty, direct laryngoscopy, cochlear implants, cataract procedures, corneal transplantation, glaucoma surgery, craniotomy, mastoidectomy, tympanoplasty, stapedectomy, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and trauma procedures. Familiarity with surgical navigation systems, specialty microscopes, electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, lasers, drills, liposuction equipment, and microvascular procedures is required. The assignment is scheduled from 11/30/2026 through 03/29/2027.
