Senior Civil Engineer - Aviation Location: Knoxville, TN What You’ll Do: Lead the technical execution of complex civil engineering projects from planning and design through construction, preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, and specifications Design and oversee civil infrastructure projects including grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, pavements, and site development for aviation facilities such as airports, terminals, airfields, and support facilities Serve as a technical leader, providing innovative engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and client standards Lead multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating with planners, architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects on schedule and within budget Mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance, design reviews, and professional development support Support business development by preparing technical proposals, participating in client meetings, and delivering presentations to clients and regulatory agencies What You Bring: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience in civil site design, land development, municipal infrastructure, transportation, aviation, or other horizontal infrastructure projects required Professional Engineer (PE) license required Strong experience designing site grading, drainage, utilities, roadway, pavement, and other civil infrastructure systems Experience with FAA standards preferred Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred Why You’ll Love It Here: Take ownership of meaningful aviation projects that directly improve airport safety, efficiency, and long-term infrastructure performance Partner with a collaborative team of aviation professionals to deliver integrated airside, landside, and facility solutions across a diverse portfolio of airports Expand your impact-mentor emerging engineers, share your expertise, and continue growing your own technical and leadership capabilities Curious about the impactful work our Aviation team is doing?
