Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

The Operational FP&A Manager is a vital leadership role responsible for guiding the organization’s operational financial direction and strategic decision-making processes. This position oversees an operational analyst and partners closely with plant managers and department heads to ensure financial planning directly aligns with broader organizational goals. The ideal candidate is an energetic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at turning complex operational data into actionable business insights. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The responsibilities of the position include the following: Drive the operational planning process, ensuring all short-term and long-term financial plans align with the company’s strategic objectives. Oversee comprehensive budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes, ensuring a high level of accuracy and timely delivery. Direct the preparation and analysis of plant-level financials, SKU-level profitability, and key operational KPIs to optimize margin performance. Prepare detailed operational financial reports, providing deep-dive analysis and executive commentary on business performance against key financial metrics. Directly manage, mentor, and set performance goals for an operational analyst, ensuring their ongoing professional development and career growth. Partner with cross-functional department heads and plant leadership to provide critical financial insights and guidance that support the executive team. Continuous evaluation of financial processes and systems to identify gaps, driving efficiency, automation, and enhanced data accuracy across the department. Perform other duties as assigned to support team objectives and organizational goals. To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following functional and interpersonal competencies: Functional Advanced Financial Modeling: Proven ability to build robust financial models, manage large, complex data sets, and utilize advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, graphing) to isolate trends and business insights. Systems Literacy: Hands-on experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and modern data repository/Business Intelligence tools. Analytical Problem Solving: Highly skilled in collecting, dissecting, and summarizing complex business situations to draw logical conclusions and solve operational bottlenecks. Business Acumen: Strong understanding of operational metrics, cost accounting principles (plant-level financials), and margin management. Interpersonal Effective Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to articulate a clear point of view and present complex financial data plainly to a broad range of non-financial business leaders. Adaptability & Drive: An energetic, motivated self-starter who can work independently, prioritize effectively, and remain flexible while managing multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment. Cross-Functional Influence: Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams, build strong relationships with department heads, and diplomatically drive business opportunities. Detail-Oriented Creativity: A unique balance of creative, innovative thinking for problem-solving alongside rigorous attention to detail and financial accuracy. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or Accounting is required. An MBA or CPA designation is considered a strong positive asset. 5 to 8 years of progressive finance experience. Direct experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG), Food & Beverage, or the Seafood industry is highly preferred. Work Environment and Schedule This position is for our Seattle, WA corporate office. Open to hybrid (for right candidate), would require at least 3 days per week in office.
