Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Utica New York
Contract: Travel Assignment
Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of recent ED experience , including Pediatric Emergency experience , to join a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will have prior travel nursing experience, be comfortable caring for patients across all age groups, and thrive in a Level I/II trauma environment.

• Beds: 64 Total
  • 40 Acute Care Beds
  • 2 Trauma Bays
  • 2 Triage Rooms
  • 6 Super Track Beds
  • 10 Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) Beds
  • 6 Psychiatric Beds
• Patient Population: Newborns, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Stroke
  • Sepsis
  • Trauma
  • Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • Cardiac Arrest
  • Respiratory Failure
• Specialty Equipment:
  • Rapid Infusor
  • Arctic Sun Temperature Management System
• EMR: Epic
• Floating: Required
• Charge Nurse Experience: Highly Preferred
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all age groups.
• Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, stabilization, and continuous monitoring.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency interventions.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams during trauma and critical care situations.
• Respond effectively to medical emergencies, including stroke alerts, STEMI, sepsis, and cardiac arrests.
• Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR.
• Float to other appropriate units as needed based on patient care requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active New York RN License (Required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience
• Pediatric ED experience required
• Previous Travel Nursing experience required
• Experience using Epic EMR
• Charge Nurse experience is highly preferred

• Active AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Active AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Active AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
