CNA/GNA Coordinator/Instructor

Job Description | The CNA/GNA Program Coordinator/Instructor at Caroline Center is responsible for the overall clinical and administrative activities of the health career related trainings. S/he reports to the Director of Programs. Employees of Caroline Center must possess a commitment to the mission, values and polices of Caroline Center and School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND). Responsibilities Adhere to all Maryland Board of Nursing requirements related to a board approved CNA/GNA Skills Training Program. Adhere to all Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) requirements as approved. Supervising certified nursing assistant instructional staff and participating in student instruction as follows: Instructing students in the clinical/laboratory/classroom setting. Based upon the approved syllabus, design and teach assigned class or lab leveraging digital content and multimedia sources, including Quizizz and Quizlet apps. Adhere to the course syllabus following established institutional guidelines. Monitor and complete required reports on student progress; provide support to students as necessary. Assist in maintenance of the classroom and lab and coordinate outside professional to assist with presenting current nursing competencies. Advise and supervise students in use/care of medical equipment and supplies. Assist students in preparing for state certifications and national certification exams. Evaluate students' progress and provide appropriate feedback daily to inform students of progress and completion of course/program requirements. Provide virtual and hands‑on instruction and practical training to create an engaging learning environment both in‑person and remotely, when necessary. Provide instruction to adult learners with varying educational levels, abilities, and backgrounds and can appropriately adapt and deliver materials to multiple experience levels. Make recommendations for program improvements as appropriate and required. Interfaces regularly with program team and other instructors and attends scheduled meetings. Facilitate practice sessions with students in preparation for the statewide GNA exam. Serve as preceptor for an identified group of students during the clinical experience. Maintain confidentiality of student records and other sensitive subject matter. Perform related duties as required. Education | Qualifications | Skills & Competencies Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing. Long-tern care experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience in clinical nursing education, one (1) year of which was caring for geriatric/chronically ill in the past five (5) years. Minimum 16-hour course of instruction in the principles of adult education OR a minimum of two (2) years nursing related experience OR a copy of the Train-the-Trainer certificate. Familiarity with videoconferencing tolls, e.g., Zoom & Teams. Familiarity with digital literacy/instruction preferred. Ability to relate to a variety of constituencies: diverse adult students, volunteers, and employers. Able to work as a string part of a team that fulfills the mission and values of Caroline Center, while developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with the students. Willing to work some flexible hours to accommodate Caroline Center programs and schedule, e.g., Halfway Hurrah, All-Staff Meetings, onboarding, etc. Flexible, patient, organized, creative thinker, problem solver and planner.
