Medical Assistant W/TravelPrimary Duties:Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, interviews patients, measures vital signs and records information on patients' charts and prepares treatment room for examination of patients. Travel required.Supervision Received:Reports directly to the Practice ManagerSupervision Exercised:NoneExamples Of Duties:1. Perform patient intake in clinic settinga. Intake includes:i. Manual BP, pulse, respirations, etc.ii. Height and Weightiii. Medication reconciliation with knowledge of1. Brand and generic name2. Diagnoses treated by medication3. Usual dosage and route4. Usual duration of therapy: acute, chronic, PRNiv. Assessment of pain levelv. Accurate collection of conservative treatment historyvi. Accurate collection of diagnoses, medical history, family medical history, surgical history, etc.vii. Uploading diagnostic imaging studies from disc2. Assist physicians with injections, including the preparation of injections following sterile procedure3. Assist physicians with the application and removal of splints and casts4. Assist physicians with wound care including the undressing and redressing of surgical wound sites, staple and suture removal, minor in-clinic procedures5. Performs extensive pre-visit planning for clinic visits6. Utilizes the electronic medical record system for patient charting bya. Entering patient demographics, medications, vitals, surgical history, family history, allergies, etc.b. Reviewing and reconciling medications electronicallyc. Entering and processing electronic orders for imaging, diagnostic studies, procedures, surgeries, etc.d. Entering and processing RXs electronicallye. Creating and closing the loop on outgoing referral ordersf. Entering MIPS clinical patient data for quality measuresg. Reviewing and processing incoming clinical documentsh. Utilizing a patient portal for communication and document sharing7. Complete patient forms, including but not limited to; FMLA, STD, Workers' compensation status, assistive devices, DME, etc.8. Performs scheduling duties for clinic visits, procedures and surgeries9. Performs precertification procedures for in-clinic procedures10. Handles phone calls, patient complaints, medications, etc.11. Upload, label and route hospital operation/surgical notes and dictation, and communicates with billing team effectively12. Preparing surgery documents including completion of the history and physical and consent forms13. Sanitizing all patient care areas between patients and the end of clinics14. Inventorying and stocking patient exam rooms15. Schedule depositions and physician meetings when needed16. Other duties as assignedEducation:1. High School Diploma2. Medical Assistant Certificate (preferred but not required)Experience:0-2 years in a related field, Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
