Resident Project Representative / Construction Manager - (Detroit, MI)

Job SummaryBrown and Caldwell’s Detroit, MI office has a full-time opportunity for aResident Project Representative/Construction Managerto join our growing team. This position is responsible for representing Brown and Caldwell and our clients on construction projects. This requires coordination with representatives from clients, regulatory agencies, construction managers, and contractors.The successful candidate will need to be able to understand and interpret design documents (technical specifications, construction drawings, etc.), produce daily field documentation such as reports, facilitate progress meetings, be able to communicate with the design team, review pay applications, conduct and document field changes to the design documents, work closely with a diverse, multidisciplinary project team, manage change, be able to perform field work such as construction oversight, and interface with the BC design team, field crews, and clients as needed.ResponsibilitiesConduct quality control and assurance inspectionsand report on findings.Coordinateand oversee non-conformance reporting and closeout.Coordinatecontractor orsubcontractor activities and ensure adherence to project plans.Define project scopes and objectives.Monitor project progress and provide detailed reports to stakeholders.Monitorproject schedules and ensure adherence to timelines.Assist withcomplex RFIs and provide accurate responses.Implement change management processes and communicate changes effectively.Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.Coordination of health and safety requirements to ensure the project meets company safety requirements. Oversee contractor or subcontractorpunch listactivities to meet project closeout requirements.Reporting of subcontractor and vendor budget performance and change management.Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.Mentorship May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.Skills and CompetenciesProficientinconstruction managementandproject management techniques and practices.Strong skills in managingcontractor orsubcontractor activities, monitoring progress, and managing schedules.Excellent understanding of scope definition and ability to manage changes effectively.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Basic understanding of contracts.Ability to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.ExperienceTypically, aminimum of5years ofrelated work experience in construction managementor relatedfield.Preferred Skills and ExperienceMinimum 5 years of related experience preparing design packages and performing construction oversight, construction inspection, and facility start-upMinimum 5 years of increasingly responsible, professional experience in the design and construction administration of municipal infrastructure water and wastewater facilitiesThorough working knowledge of the civil, structural, architectural, process and building mechanical and electrical construction and demolition practices involved with major public works project.Experience leading and/orassistwith commissioning, testing, and start-up of process systems/equipment or facilities for turning over to the owner's personnel.Preparing effective and accurate records/documents and all project, permit, and contract closeout documentation.Experience conducting daily field investigations, which includes preparing, performing, and/or overseeing the preparation of daily reports and photo documentation of observation ofcontractor’sconstruction activities at multiple construction sites.Ability to access/enter confined space areas to complete necessary inspections of contractor’s workAbility to remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard isidentified.Ability to climb and/or descend stairs (2-3 flights), ladders (up to 24 feet typically), or via other safety measures, to access structures for visual inspection. This includes entering confined space areasLifting – objects on job sites less than 30 pounds.A valid driver’s license anda good drivingrecordrequired.EducationAbachelor’sdegree inconstruction managementor related field or equivalent experience is required.Preferred EducationBS degree, in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field highly preferred.Candidates without a degree but possessing significant construction management experience will be considered as wellPE is preferable but not requiredPossess 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with a current 8-hour refresher or have the ability to take and pass the training/physicalSalary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education.
