Warehouse Worker

Strive to achieve operational excellence by providing service and support necessary to ensure effective and efficient child nutrition operations so that students have access to healthful and nutritious meals daily. Responsible for receiving/storing food, supplies and equipment; picking, packing, loading, unloading, distribution, delivery, stocking, and requisition processing. Ensure that all products are stored, handled, and distributed in accordance with Donna ISD HACCP plan, and food safety guidelines as per local, state, and federal regulations.

High school diploma or GED (preferred)

3+ years experience in food/warehousing, including fork lift and pallet mover operation, customer service, driving, and 1 year of inventory control; Certification as required by the Texas Education Agency and a Valid Texas Driver's License Required; forklift training/certification.

Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the general public.

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.

Ability to operate a personal computer.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Prepares and participates in the shipping, receiving, organizing, storing, and issuing of Child Nutrition food and supplies for the purpose of assuring items are prepared for delivery and delivered in a timely manner.

Acts as a resource for individuals within the department regarding status of orders, inventory, delivery schedules, and assisting in resolving customer service issues throughout the District.

Assists in maintaining perpetual inventory for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of orders/deliveries by verifying stock on hand, reviewing pick tickets, and confirmation of site deliveries.

Perform physical count of all warehouse stock items during scheduled inventories or as assigned.

Take a physical inventory at least monthly, and maintain an accurate running inventory of warehouse items.

Check all deliveries and inspect for damage, defects, and temperature violations.

Verify accuracy of shipment by counting items and comparing with invoice or packing slip; report any discrepancies or damage to Child Nutrition Inventory Control Specialist or designee.

Verify all paperwork (label, and/or pallet tags, etc.) from all incoming merchandise prior to receiving into the inventory system.

Responsible for labeling, storing and organizing of items in an orderly manner always using the first in, first out principle.

Responsible for batching items from stock using the rotation method to fill orders and delivery of orders accurately and in a timely manner to all kitchens in the district.

Verify all site deliveries have been approved/authorized by immediate supervisor (i.e., pick ticket/transfer request).

Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet movers, carts, hand tools used in loading and unloading items from trucks, while picking, packing, preparing orders for shipment and stock shelves

Utilize current applicable technology, retrieve, and maintain data using back-of-house inventory management software system.

Drives delivery vehicles over predetermined routes for the purpose of making proper pick-up and deliveries to various school sites.

Perform special projects such as but not limited to: receiving and storing merchandise; serving and delivering meals at various site locations.

Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure child nutrition operations are in a clean/safe working environment.

Assist in providing kitchen access to authorized contracted vendors outside of regular work hours.

Assist in monitoring temperatures of district coolers/freezers; and routinely inspect merchandise to assure food safety and sanitation.

Obtain receipts/invoices from various campus sites and submits to CNP Accounting Staff or designee.

Maintain accurate up-to-date log/record on sites visited and supplies delivered.

Check the vehicle for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify the immediate supervisor of needed repairs.

Report all incidents, accidents, vehicle damage, injuries, and mechanical failures.

Complete and submit all required reports for vehicle operations, accidents, damages, injuries, mechanical failures, and/or other incidents that will hinder Child Nutrition Operations.

Assist in maintaining accurate key check out logs.

Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school vehicles.

Check fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure the vehicle can be operated safely before driving.

Correct unsafe conditions in the work area/vehicle that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.

Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crow bar, and reflector.

Foster a team environment by assisting coworkers with scheduled work demands.

Provide good customer service and public relations on the behalf of the district, department, and stakeholders.

Maintain confidentiality of information.

Attend, participate, and complete required training programs/topics mandated by the district and department.

Assist in setting up special events as assigned.

Exercise professional judgment in absences; is punctual to work, meetings, and appointments.

Perform all other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before staff, students and the general public.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in a written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. Repetitive hand motion and prolonged use of computers is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. This position requires handling and balancing multiple demands at the same time. The employee regularly interacts with staff and the general public.

The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is regularly performed indoors.
