HVAC Service Manager

$90,000–$100,000 Base + Performance Bonus

Reading, MA | Monday–Friday

Cooling Unlimited is a family-owned HVAC company that has been serving Middlesex County since 1986. We've built our reputation on quality workmanship, dependable service, and long-term relationships with our customers and employees.

We're looking for an experienced HVAC Service Department Manager to take ownership of our residential service operation. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands HVAC in the field and can also manage the people, processes, and performance behind a successful service department.

You'll work closely with technicians, oversee daily operations, monitor department performance, and make sure customers receive consistent, high-quality service.

Your Responsibilities

Lead the Service Team

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the HVAC service department
• Lead, coach, and mentor service technicians
• Set expectations and hold the team accountable for performance
• Support technician development, training, and problem-solving
• Build a culture focused on professionalism, teamwork, and quality

Manage Daily Operations

• Oversee service scheduling, dispatching, and technician workflow
• Coordinate demand service and preventative maintenance operations
• Keep jobs moving efficiently and address scheduling or field issues
• Step in to assist technicians with difficult troubleshooting when needed
• Ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and according to company standards

Own Department Performance

• Track key performance indicators and technician productivity
• Review invoices, job records, and department documentation
• Assist with budgeting, cost control, and operational planning
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
• Maintain strong safety and compliance standards

What We're Looking For

• 4–6+ years of HVAC field experience in service and/or installation
• Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring HVAC technicians
• Strong understanding of residential HVAC service operations
• Experience with scheduling, dispatch, invoicing, and/or service department processes
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, customers, and office staff
• EPA Certification required
• A leadership approach that combines accountability, support, and development
