Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Contract position based in Washington, District of Columbia. This role is ideal for someone who can manage core financial activities with accuracy, maintain organized records, and contribute to a smooth month-end process. The right candidate will be comfortable working across reconciliations, journal entries, and receivables while helping ensure financial information remains timely and reliable.Responsibilities:• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger activity.• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other cash-related transactions on a regular basis.• Support the month-end close by reviewing balances, resolving discrepancies, and organizing required documentation.• Monitor incoming payments and assist with accounts receivable activities to help keep records current.• Review banking activity and verify that transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system.• Compile financial support materials and schedules needed for audit readiness and reporting requests.• Maintain accounting records within Sage Intacct and help ensure data integrity across daily processes.
