Job Summary:
The General Medical Surgical Float Position is a nursing role based in a large hospital within a general medical and surgical unit. The position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population, with opportunities to float to various medical units as needed. The role emphasizes assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, and the utilization of electronic health records.

Job Details:

• Location: 11109 PARKVIEW PLAZA DR, FORT WAYNE, Indiana, 46845
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience
  • At least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
  • IN State Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license (as of 7/1/20)
  • BLS certification through AHA
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication
  • Familiarity with use of IV pumps, wound vacs, heat/cooling pads, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, management of heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy management
• Additional Information:
  • Candidate must provide proof of IN State or compact RN license, BLS certification through AHA, and a resume detailing required experience.
  • The facility accepts local travelers with a 12% reduction in rate.
  • The role requires floating to other medical units within the hospital.
  • Supplemental staff undergoes a Jump Start orientation, including one day of hospital orientation, approximately five days of nursing orientation, and Epic electronic record classes.
