Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ER (Emergency Room) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Evenings Hours per Shift: 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in Emergency Department or Emergency Room Description: Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit within the past year. Number of beds/trauma bays is 243. A fast track area is available. A separate triage area is present, and travelers may occasionally be required to perform triage. There is no separate holding area in the ER; ER holds are intermixed within the ER. ER nurses manage their own ER holds. There are no separate psych/seclusion rooms. In-house security is available. The unit cares for 80-90 patients per day. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 to 4. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC. Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions. Physicians and mid-level practitioners are both present on the unit. Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are available. Nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters are included in the staffing. The EMR system used is Paragon. Respiratory Therapy completes ABG's, breathing treatments, and EGS's. There is no monitor tech; RNs must know ECG rhythms. X-ray or CT is available in the ER with transportation next to the emergency department. Phlebotomy or nursing draws are conducted by either a tech or RN. Self-scheduling is utilized for shifts, including days and evenings. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, and holiday requirements are also every other holiday. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating may be required to other units for which qualifications are met. Scrub color/dress code is navy. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The cancellation policy includes 4 shifts per 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks. This position operates within an acute care division.
