Program Manager IV (Aerospace)

Program Manager IV – Defense & National Security The Program Manager IV for Defense & National Security is responsible for managing all phases of program execution. Responsibilities include developing program management related documentation such as monthly status reports, PDR/CDR matters, program planning documentation, program management related CDRLs, and presentations of program materials to large technical teams, management, subcontractors, and customers. The position reports to the Director of Advanced Technology Programs and is part of the Science & Technologies department based in Reno, NV. This role is onsite or hybrid based in Reno, NV. Essential Functions Plans, directs, and monitors project(s) to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are maintained. Responsible for the project level profit and loss. Defines, generates, and reviews project management related material. Ensures that all required resources such as engineering, manpower, production, and facilities are available for the program. Works closely with the assigned project staff to ensure adequate direction is provided regarding budgeting and execution of program. Works closely with the assigned project staff to ensure all program deliverables are met satisfactorily. Works closely with VTS management to ensure that all program risks and issues are identified early and proactively elevated and properly acted upon. Serves as primary customer contact for project information. Pursues follow‑on and new business opportunities directly with customers. Ensures adherence to all internal Program Management processes. Participates in customer meetings, peer reviews, and problem‑solving meetings. Input into creation of proposals for follow‑on work. Travels up to 25% of the time to various customer locations. Other related job duties, as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university. Equivalent experience may be considered. 15+ years of program management experience, including 10 years managing DoD propulsion related programs. Prior responsibilities directly related to generating, managing, and owning Integrated Master Schedules, Integrated Master Plans, and Earned Value Management. Direct experience in managing large subcontract agreements. Experience managing programs for U.S. Government customers. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree with emphasis in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university. Management experience of rocket propulsion defense system programs. Management experience of Missile Defense Agency programs with MAP/PMAP requirements. Experience briefing executive management and customers on program status, risks, and future plans. Skills Ability to multi‑task in a highly collaborative team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to solve problems quickly and completely. Overall knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Preferred experience in using Integrated Program Management Tools. Basic understanding of solid rocket motor design and operation. Other Requirements Travel up to 25%, including the possibility of overnight stays within the continental U.S. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. citizenship). Must have a current DoD Secret clearance. Salary The good faith base salary range for this role is $128,600–$245,900 USD.
