GROCERY/OVERNIGHT DEPT LEADER

Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department. Support the day‑to‑day functions of the grocery operations. Responsibilities Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept. Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud; notify management of customer or employee accidents. Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO). Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process. Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs. Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies. Assist store management in preparing the department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate actions on all financial reports. Monitor and control department expenses. Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. Implement the promotional plan for the department during the period. Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor. Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management. Understand the store’s layout and be able to locate products. Maintain product knowledge to respond to questions and make suggestions. Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines. Train and develop associates on performance and participate in performance appraisals. Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume during operation hours. Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals. Communicate company, department and job‑specific information to associates. Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback. Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues. Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults through direct interaction. Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualifications Minimum: High School Diploma or GED; management experience.
