Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:
Experienced Medical Surgical RN needed for 36 or 48-hour night shifts on a 5S unit focusing on adult oncology, palliative care, urology, and telemetry patients. Candidates must have strong telemetry skills and relevant certifications to provide quality patient care in a fast-paced, trauma-level facility.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to adult medical surgical and oncology patients, including those requiring complex procedures like chemo administration and bone marrow aspirations.
• Administer medications, including blood products and PCA pumps, and perform central line draws and port accesses.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data to ensure patient safety and timely intervention.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Assist with patient education and family communication regarding oncological treatments and care processes.
• Float within scope as needed, adhering to facility protocols and maintaining compliance with all certifications.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid WV or Compact RN license; pending licenses accepted for submission.
• Possess at least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency in telemetry, blood administration, central line care, and other specified skills.
• Maintain current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS preferred.
• Ability to work flexible scheduling including every other weekend and block schedule requests.
• Comply with vaccination requirements, including flu shot and COVID vaccine per facility policy.
