About the Position

Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: General Abdominal/Obstetrical Small Parts Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day - Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: One year of experience performing ultrasound procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician's office preferred. License: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required upon hire/transfer. Certifications: Registered in OB/GYN with RDMS within one year of hire/transfer. Must-Have: Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years. Description: Perform ultrasound procedures to assist in the diagnosis of medical conditions. High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a specialized training program in Ultrasonic Technology or on-the-job training with a registered sonographer preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential. Familiarity with physician office procedures, ICD-9, and CPT coding guidelines is necessary. Understanding of ultrasound equipment and procedures, protocols, and safety hazards common to administering ultrasounds is required. Ability to recognize normal and pathological features is important. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions and procedures is needed. Skills to identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and perform simple adjustments are necessary. Skilled in the production and communication of sonograms is required. Receives general supervision from the Practice Manager. No supervision is given to others.
