We're currently seeking a detail-oriented and self-driven Payroll/Human Resources Assistant to support our operations in Lake City, FLIf you're looking for a role where you can make an impact, grow your skills, and be part of a team that values your contributions-this is your opportunity.About the Role: As a Payroll & HR Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate payroll processing while supporting key HR functions. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, organization, and a strong sense of accountability and urgency.Why This Role Matters: This position directly supports both our employees and operations-ensuring people are paid accurately, supported effectively, and set up for success. It's a critical role within a team-driven environment where reliability and consistency matter.Payroll ResponsibilitiesProcess weekly payroll by compiling, calculating, and entering data accuratelyMaintain payroll records, including deductions, benefits, and tax informationTrack leave, non-taxable wages, and earnings recordsGenerate payroll reports and assist with audits as neededIssue paychecks and resolve discrepanciesHuman Resources SupportMaintain and update employee records (personal data, benefits, compensation)Support recruiting and onboarding activitiesEnsure new hire paperwork is complete and compliantTrack PTO and vacation accrualsAssist with benefits administration, including open enrollmentManage workers' compensation records and reportingServe as a resource for employee HR-related questionsWhat We're Looking For2-3 years of payroll and/or HR experienceStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (basic formulas and functions required)Familiarity with payroll systems (UKG/UltiPro preferred)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)Strong organization, multitasking, and communication skillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailAble to work independently and have an excellent work ethicAbility to handle confidential information with professionalismExperience working in a fast-paced or manufacturing environment is a plusAbility to interact with all levels of personnel - bilingual is a plusThrives on assisting and teaching employees Willing to do whatever it takes to get the job doneMust have excellent attendance recordWhy Join Champion?We believe great employees deserve great benefits:401(k) with Company MatchGenerous Paid Time OffPaid HolidaysComprehensive Medical Plans (3 options)Prescription CoverageDental, Vision & Life InsuranceA stable, growing company with long-term career opportunitiesWho We Are: Champion Home Builders is one of North America's largest and most respected producers of manufactured and modular housing.
