Communications Director

Develop and lead an integrated, company-wide communications strategy aligned with Benesch’s business objectives, strategic priorities, and brand Strengthen Benesch’s reputation, visibility, and market position within the AEC industry and communities served Advise executive leadership and organizational leaders on strategic communications Steward and evolve the Benesch brand, visual identity, voice, and messaging Lead the strategy and development of the website, digital communications channels, and social media presence Strengthen employee understanding of company strategy, business performance, culture, employee ownership, and initiatives Oversee internal company-wide communications across offices, disciplines, and geographies Partner with leadership and internal teams on communications for initiatives, organizational changes, employee programs, culture, and business priorities Develop thought leadership content with technical experts and business leaders Lead media relations and increase visibility through publications, conferences, digital channels, and other platforms Oversee website content, messaging, user experience, and content strategy Coordinate communications campaigns across internal, external, digital, social media, and other channels Identify emerging digital platforms, tools, technologies, and communications practices Establish effectiveness measures and use communications and digital analytics to improve programs Lead, develop, and mentor communications team members and coordinate specialized work across marketing staff and external partners Foster collaboration, creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement Represent Benesch at industry events, professional organizations, conferences, and external engagements Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, marketing communications, or a related field Experience developing and executing integrated communications strategies across internal and external audiences Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills Ability to translate complex business, technical, and strategic topics into clear and compelling communications Experience advising executive leadership and senior business leaders on strategic communications Experience leading and developing communications or marketing professionals and coordinating specialized teams or external partners Strong understanding of brand strategy, positioning, reputation management, and integrated marketing communications Experience managing corporate websites, digital communications, social media, and content strategy Experience developing thought leadership content and positioning technical experts and business leaders as industry voices Experience with internal communications strategies and communicating company strategy, organizational changes, culture, and employee initiatives Experience with media relations and building relationships with industry publications and external media outlets Strong understanding of communications and digital analytics Strong business acumen and ability to connect communications strategies to broader business objectives Strong leadership, collaboration, relationship-building, and influencing skills Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams Strong presentation and facilitation skills CPSM certification preferred Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in developing and executing integrated communications strategies that align with business objectives, while effectively managing brand strategy and reputation within the AEC industry. Proven ability to lead and mentor communications teams, enhance internal and external communications, and leverage digital analytics for continuous improvement.
