Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Addiction Rehabilitation team. The ideal candidate will have experience in assessing detox symptoms, preferably with MedSurg experience, and will support our voluntary treatment environment focused on patient stabilization and rehabilitation.

Unit Overview

Bed Capacity: 23 patients
Nurse-Patient Ratios: No set ratios; patients are stable and primarily managed by counselors.
Common Diagnoses: Patients aged 18 and older undergoing rehabilitation from substances such as alcohol, crack cocaine, and PCP.
Team Collaboration: RNs will handle admissions, medications, and any medical issues that arise during treatment.

Responsibilities

Assess and monitor detox symptoms and related health issues.
Administer medications and support treatment plans as directed by the healthcare team.
Perform phlebotomy and obtain EKGs as needed.
Ensure patient safety and adherence to treatment protocols in a voluntary unit.
Collaborate with counselors and medical staff to provide holistic care.

Qualifications

Current LPN license and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Minimum of 1 year of MedSurg nursing experience required; psychiatric experience is a plus.
Strong assessment skills, particularly in detox symptom management.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team.

Work Requirements

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
Holiday Requirement: 1 winter holiday and 1 summer holiday per year.
Possible floating to sister units as needed, particularly in rehabilitation or psychiatry.

Additional Information

Unit-specific orientation will be provided, lasting 5 days on the floors.
Scrub colors are designated: RNs in Royal Blue, LPNs in Kelly Green.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is Allscripts.
