Material HandlerA material handler is responsible for loading and unloading material using forklifts inside and outside the facilities.Principle Duties and Areas of ResponsibilityReceives, locates, and transfers materials, both inside and outside the building accurately and in a timely mannerOpens containers utilizing hand tools, counts and weighs materials and records information as needed.Identifies damaged materials and records material shortagesLoads and unloads materials, both inside and outside the building onto and from a variety of containers including but not limited to trucks, boxes, totes, racks, pallets; utilizes appropriate tools to accomplish taskTransports incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas throughout the shop utilizing appropriate tools/vehicles to accomplish task including but not limited to forklift or pallet jackInventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules if necessaryLoads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting deviceAssists machine operators as needed by lifting heavy objects by hand or by use of power hoistMaintains a safe and clean working environment both inside and outside the buildingParticipates in quality improvement effortsPerforms required administrative tasks; such as recording materials movement throughout shop in ERP system (Epicor)Performs other related duties as assigned by managementForklift Primary Duties:Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatusPositions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated areaUnloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting deviceLubricates truck, recharges batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquefied gas tankSkills and AbilitiesAbility to work with minimal supervision.Commitment to excellence and high standardsExcellent written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skillsAbility to manage priorities and workflowVersatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasmAcute attention to detailProficient Hand Held computer for tracking all material related transactionsProven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.RequirementsQualifications:One to two years related experience or equivalent.Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods.Forklift certification required, but will train right candidate.Physical RequirementsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
