Nursing Adjunct

Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education located in the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students at its two campuses in Chester and Midlothian, online, and throughout its service area. General Information Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester within the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending on other positions held within VCCS. Responsibilities Teach medical‑surgical, pediatric, and OB clinical classes as part of the Department of Nursing in the Spring 2015 term. Provide orientation and ongoing guidance from full‑time faculty or the Nursing Director. Deliver traditional classroom instruction at the Brightpoint Nursing Education Center or deliver clinical instruction at local hospital campuses. Use course textbooks, classroom support software, and instructional technologies as provided. Schedule classes during day and evening hours, weekdays and/or weekends as needed. Special Assignments Perform additional duties as assigned by department leadership. Assist state government efforts during emergency declarations by the Governor, if required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (minimum). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Successful completion of a drug screen and a criminal background check prior to employment. Additional Considerations Master’s degree in Nursing preferred, with prior postsecondary teaching experience. Ability to use instructional technologies effectively.
