Colorectal Surgeon - Assistant/Associate Professor

The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an exceptional colorectal surgeon for a full-time faculty position in the Section of Colorectal Surgery at the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The applicant should possess exceptional clinical skills, with a strong interest and track record in academic research with a desire to pursue research funding. Candidates with a special interest in strategically advancing science and developing a successful research career with extramural funding will be prioritized. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible for ABCRS and qualify for medical licensure in the state of Texas. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of colorectal surgeons with clinical practice focused at our main campus at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. The Colorectal Surgery section boasts access to advanced laparoscopy and robotics (including SP), an NCI-designated Dan L Duncan Cancer Center, a multi-disciplinary IBD center, and an anorectal center. Minimum Qualifications Ideal candidates should have an established track record of clinical excellence in Colorectal Surgery and a strong commitment to teaching surgical learners, and clinical/translational research efforts. An academic track record and a focus on securing extramural research funding is preferred. Completion of a certified colorectal surgery fellowship is required, and the candidate must qualify for a full and unrestricted Texas Medical License. An established track record in research is preferred. Job Duties Participate and contribute to clinical research and scholarly activities, including collaboration on publications, clinical trials, and/or research aligned with the academic mission of Baylor College of Medicine. Develop and participate in department and division clinical, research, and educational programs. Support the implementation of evidence based, state-of-the-art protocols and quality metrics for the service at BCM. Provide call coverage for CHI St. Luke's Medical Center, TCH, and other affiliated hospitals as needed. Actively participate in college, department, hospital, and clinical professional meetings. Grow the Surgical Oncology division through participation in clinical, research, and education efforts.
