Responsibilities

Job Knowledge

• Demonstrates sufficient knowledge to independently perform the duties of the position as stated in the job description
• Implements appropriate procedures in working with other hospital resources (i.e., lab, x-ray, physical therapy)
• Demonstrates knowledge of use and care of general and patient equipment
• Demonstrates ability to teach adult learner - on job training
• Demonstrates appropriate procedure to follow in event of an emergency such as cardiac arrest, power failure, fire, etc.
• Maintains current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Contributes to the growth and development of the department by participating in projects and committees
• Participates in staff development programs, staff meetings, and all mandatory inservices
• Recognizes areas of strengths, limitations, and goals in self, and seeks ways to improve self using this knowledge
• Enhances professional growth by accepting own responsibility for remaining current and competent through membership and attendance with professional organizations, review of current literature, and attendance of workshops related to total joint procedures.
• Adheres to and supports the established policies of the hospital
• Demonstrates knowledge of patient's rights including, but not limited to, privacy, confidentiality, and access to records
• Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used according to TVH standards of practice, policies and procedures, and physician preferences
• Adheres to ASPAN standards of practice and POHA / PACU protocols

Productivity

• Manages the transition of total hip and knee arthroplasty patients across the continuum of care
• Demonstrates clinical competence by the end of the initial employment/probationary period
• Performs duties daily with minimal supervision
• Ensure appropriate preop preparation for every total hip and knee arthroplasty patient
• Demonstrates ability to work selectively with one or two patients while being cognizant of needs of other patients and team members
• Manages patient demographic information in Recovery Coach
• Utilizes Recovery Coach for patient education, communication, and data collection
• Coordinates and manages the Total Joint Class content, schedule, and instructors
• Organizes, reviews, and provides feedback for program protocols, care plans, and patient educational offerings
• Assists in the collection and analysis of performance metrics data

• Collaborates with other service line members
• Serves as the primary point of contact between the patient, their family members, and the care team
