AI & Data Transformation Intern

The AI and Transformation team builds the AI and data capabilities used across Lazard Asset Management, with a particular focus on the investment platform: research, portfolio management and the data that supports both. We are looking for an AI & Data Intern to work alongside the team on AI products that change how investment professionals research companies and make decisions.

This role sits closer to product than to pure engineering. We are looking for someone who can write code and reason about data, but whose instinct is to ask why a tool gets used rather than only whether it runs. You should be comfortable spending time with portfolio managers and research analysts as well as with a terminal.

Eligibility Criteria

• Ability to start an internship June 7, 2027, and end August 13, 2027
• Ability to be in NYC for the duration of the internship
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

What You'll Do:

• Work with portfolio managers, research analysts and data teams to identify where AI can improve the investment research process

• Help define requirements and build prototypes for AI-native research tools, including agentic workflows, retrieval over filings, transcripts and broker research, and structured extraction of financial data

• Write working code for data pipelines, evaluation harnesses and agent and prompt iteration

• Analyze investment and market data to test whether a tool improves a research or investment outcome

• Translate between investment and engineering audiences, turning an investment workflow into a clear product specification

You’ll need to have:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Advanced Degree in Financial Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
• Strong finance background — prior finance internship experience is a plus
• Solid understanding of data science and engineering principles; comfortable working with data-driven analysis
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to translate between technical, financial, and business stakeholders
• Genuine interest in financial products and how data informs product decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior internship experience in finance (banking, fintech, asset management, etc.)
• Familiarity with financial modeling, statistics, or data engineering tools/concepts

We expect the prorated salary for this role to be approximately $100,000 USD for the duration of the duration of the internship. The internship will be approximately 10 weeks starting in June of 2027 and concluding in August 2027
