The Medical Receptionist (Scheduler) is an essential member of a medium-sized healthcare team, responsible for managing patient appointments and ensuring seamless communication between patients and medical staff. This role requires direct patient interaction, proficiency in scheduling and electronic medical record systems, and careful verification of insurance information, including vision insurance. A friendly and professional demeanor is crucial for both in-person reception and phone correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls promptly using a cloud-based phone system
• Screen and manage voicemail messages efficiently
• Schedule patient appointments using specialized scheduling software
• Welcome and register patients upon arrival with professionalism
• Verify patient insurance details, including vision insurance
• Maintain clear communication and coordination within the medical team
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in medical reception
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Familiarity with appointment scheduling software and EMR systems
• Experience with insurance verification processes
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to multitask effectively in a busy healthcare environment
• Professional phone etiquette, including phone triage
