Environmental Services Technician I

Position Overview Sentara CarePlex Hospital, located in Hampton, VA, is currently seeking an Environmental Services Technician I for the 3rd (night) shift with rotating weekends. This full‑time position focuses on maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitary environment in assigned areas while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Hours Monday – Friday: 11pm – 7:30am Rotating weekends. Responsibilities Perform damp dusting, mopping, scouring, scrubbing, stripping, polishing, and other cleaning tasks. Clean patient rooms, hallways, and common areas. Respond promptly to spills and ensure proper waste disposal. Use cleaning chemicals safely and manage all equipment and applications. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for waste collection, handling, and transport. Collaborate closely with team members to provide the best possible patient experience. Assist in cross‑training opportunities in other areas and pursue professional development pathways. Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent. At least 1 year of previous housekeeping or Environmental Services experience (hospital setting strongly preferred). Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and chemical usage. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
