Position Assistant Professor – Row Crop Entomologist Summary The Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia (UGA), Tifton Campus, invites applications for a 9‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor position focusing on row crop integrated pest management (IPM) with an emphasis on cotton. The position is budgeted at 65% research, 30% extension, and 5% service. Candidates should be able to develop a nationally recognized research and extension program, secure competitive external funding, publish high-impact research, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Responsibilities Develop a nationally recognized research program supported by competitive external funding. Publish high‑impact research in peer‑reviewed journals. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research, teaching, and professional development. Design and implement extension activities that translate research findings to row‑crop producers, extension agents, and other stakeholders, using both traditional and digital media. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the department, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and the UGA Cotton Team to address problems in the cotton industry. Participate in departmental and university service, professional activities, and outreach. Qualifications Ph.D. in Entomology or a related life‑sciences discipline. Expertise in IPM theory and practice, with particular emphasis on cotton and row crops. Strong record of scholarly achievement and excellent communication skills. Experience or interest in agroecology and related fields such as invasive‑species management, resistance management, applied toxicology, transgenic and molecular approaches, population genetics, landscape ecology, or precision agriculture (including remote sensing). One to two years of postdoctoral experience is preferred. Commitment to a tenure‑track career path. Location UGA‑Tifton Campus, Tifton, Georgia. The campus provides office, laboratory, greenhouse, rearing space, multiple research farms, and required agricultural machinery.
