Job Description

Applicants applying to this position will maintain general mechanical maintenance to all forklifts, pallet jacks, and beefpushers in the facility. All maintenance activities on the plant site including but not limited to, preventive maintenance, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair all forklifts, pallet jacks, and beef pushers; install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems; install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot DC batteries and combustion engines; experience with welding and fabrication: welding, using an oxy-acetylene cutting torch; use of power tools and shop equipment. Communication skills: must be able to communicate effectively in all areas of communication: verbal, written, and reading. Some examples, but not all inclusive are: giving verbal feedback to supervisors, other departments, and co-workers; compiling paperwork at the end of the day; comprehending manuals, diagrams, work orders, etc. that will assist in the day to day operations.

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting (lifting is required in many areas up to 70 pounds) and reaching are required. These positions will work in extremely hot, humid or extremely cold environment, both inside and outside the plant.

Requirements

1 year minimum experience within industrial maintenance field or forklift related background. Applicant must possess a good work record, less than 5 attendance points and no more than one written warning the last 12 months at the time of record review to be considered for an interview. This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR partner.
