Mold Maintenance Shop Supervisor

The Mold Maintenance Supervisor will report directly to the Manufacturing Unit Leader. This position requires a hands‑on approach working closely with Mold Technicians of various skill levels, the machine shop supervisor, and the molding parts coordinators to communicate repairs and spare part needs. Direct reports include Mold Maintenance Technicians 1, 2, and 3. Responsibilities Serve as the communication hub: remain responsive and accessible during working hours to provide timely replies to team and stakeholders. Keep everyone in the loop: provide regular, transparent updates throughout all processes—including timeline adjustments, unexpected challenges, headcount changes, or mold pull requirements. Master the schedule: own the preventive maintenance calendar for the entire week while staying flexible to accommodate urgent repairs and last‑minute changes. Champion quality excellence: ensure every mold that leaves the shop meets the highest standards, eliminating issues such as increased cavitation and water leaks before they affect production. Lead with purpose: conduct bi‑weekly staff meetings with direct reports to discuss concerns, review policies, share upcoming events, and provide space for team members to contribute improvement ideas, including off‑shift participants. Drive continuous improvement: take an active, hands‑on role in continuous improvement initiatives within the molding department and help shape future operations. Roll up your sleeves: step onto the bench when headcount is short and perform necessary work to keep production moving smoothly. Maintain documentation standards: review and update standard work instructions in the mold shop to keep procedures current and effective. Manage disruptions proactively: provide weekly updates on any preventive maintenance or repair schedule disruptions—such as down molds impacting shop workflow—keeping leadership informed and focused on solutions. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least 3 years of proven experience managing people. Experience in manufacturing or machine shop mold maintenance, mold set‑up, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of tooling procedures and operation of shop equipment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Work Environment Personal protective equipment is required and may include a hair net, steel‑toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, and a high‑visibility vest where necessary. The role involves standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. A safe work environment is maintained with appropriate PPE. Work Location United States, Utah – Sandy.
