Senior Construction Accountant

Our client in Marietta seeks a Senior Job Cost Accountant (or manager level) on an indefinite contract basis. This is a small office and would also require some basic office administration as well. Recent Construction Accounting Experience is required. The rate for this role is $50/hour and can transition to hybrid after a a few weeks in the office. Position Summary Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, job cost accounting, and office administration for a construction company. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project profitability, managing cash flow, and ensuring smooth administrative operations. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional with construction industry experience, strong organizational skills, and hands-on proficiency with Sage 300 (Timberline) and Job Cost Accounting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage all aspects of accounting functions including AP, AR, GL, and account reconciliations. Prepare monthly job cost and management reports. Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting and budgeting. Process customer billings, retainage tracking, and collections. Construction & Job Cost Accounting Maintain and reconcile job cost records for all projects. Track labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Monitor committed costs and compare actual results to budgets. Ensure accurate project setup and cost coding within Sage 300. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience and 3 years’ construction accounting experience preferred. Required Skills & Knowledge Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles.
