JOB DESCRIPTION: Associate Pastor The primary responsibilities of the associate pastor will be to lead worship in a thoroughly blended service and grow the music ministry at Tower Grove. This position will also oversee all discipleship initiatives of the church, including small groups, and engage in activities that help members grow and mature in their faith. This person will also be responsible for all guest services, outreach, and other activities that ensure everyone has an excellent impression of Tower Grove Church. This person is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor. The candidate should possess an adaptable skill set and leadership capabilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WORSHIP Continue to grow and mature in Christ as a godly person of integrity. Strong sense of calling and identity in Christ. Demonstrated leadership in being able to disciple those in his/her sphere of influence. Provide leadership, vision, and passion for Tower Grove in the area of music worship ministries that is in line with the overall vision, purpose and mission of our church. Lead in creating and implementing new worship opportunities, which align with the mission and vision at Tower Grove Church. Coordinate with the Senior Pastor to create a well-planned and engaging Sunday morning worship service. This includes leading the Sunday worship service and recruiting and developing a worship team and scheduling vocalists. Responsibilities include preparation for and leading rehearsals, as well as consulting with the Senior Pastor to coordinate the music for the Sunday service. Proficiency in leading worship with a strong vocal ability. Capability of leading with a guitar and/or keyboard is a plus, but not a requirement. Ability to lead with piano accompaniment is necessary. Attend a weekly staff meeting with the Senior Pastor, and participate in the planning and implementation of church programs that will fulfill the mission and vision of the church as well as developing goals, and vision for ministries within the church. Assist in planning, implementing and leading worship for special events outside of Sunday worship services. When available, perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Either currently is a member of, or willing and qualified to join the membership of Tower Grove Church upon hiring in full agreement of our statement of faith. DISCIPLESHIP A love for God and His people Extensive knowledge of God’s Word The ability to preach and teach Proven skills in leading volunteers Strong skills in working with a diverse background of people Proven skills in developing small groups A heart for discipleship Urban environment experience The heart and skills to reach non-church goers (Millennials & Generation X) Develop inroads into the Shaw Neighborhood Develop Tower Grove’s discipleship ministry as the primary avenue for spiritual growth Develop benchmarks for spiritual growth of all groups Recruit, train, and develop leaders to create additional groups Recommend curriculum for groups Ensure sound doctrine is consistent and taught within all groups Teach weekly a discipleship class Oversee attendance records Work with the children’s, youth and adult ministry to create a cohesive discipleship plan Work closely with our Burmese and Congolese Congregations in creating a continued strategic alignment SALARY: $30,000 with option of additional funds raised salary #J-18808-Ljbffr IL Baptist State Association
