Summary

Supplies the production area with raw materials, and package and palletize product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Operates forklift, hand truck, WAVE, or other equipment to transfer materials to and from storage or work area.

· Retrieves supplies and materials by reviewing packaging specifications and locating and verifying supplies and materials.

· Secures and removes pallets on and off trucks safely.

· Maintains inventory in production area by anticipating and tracking usage.

· Monitors inventory and audits orders by reporting discrepancies.

· Clears production area by securing and moving finished pallets and packaging materials.

· Documents actions by logging movement of supplies, materials, and finished goods.

· Maintains safe work environment by watching out for foot traffic.

· Assists with regular inventory counts.

· Keeps forklift operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

· Complies with cGMP, EHS guidelines, and all working procedures assigned to the position.

· Maintains an organized warehouse.

· Performs other tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

High School degree/GED required, higher preferred. Forklift certification preferred.

Language Skills

Basic English reading, writing and communication skills. Must be able to sufficiently pass internal exam.

Mathematical Skills

Able to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must be able to sufficiently pass internal exam.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. Strong spatial awareness needed to maneuver pallets in tight spaces.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay Range

The Material Handler is a non-exempt position that is paid hourly. Pay rate will be dependent on a number of factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and experience.
