Assistant Professor Of Psychology (Clinical/Counseling)Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Psychology (Clinical/Counseling) in the Department of Psychological Science with a preferred start date of August 2027. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a productive program of research in clinical or counseling psychology, with preference given to research addressing substance misuse and/or mental health. Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate research findings through professional presentations and other scholarly outlets. Seek external funding to support research and scholarly activity. Teach undergraduate courses in the department's Mental Health and Well-Being Area, in the candidate's area of expertise, and in alignment with departmental needs. Teach courses of varying modalities and class sizes, including large class sizes, on the Kennesaw and/or Marietta campuses. The standard teaching load is 9 credit hours (i.e., 3 courses) per semester; however, workload distributions are negotiable. Engage students in research and provide mentorship that supports their academic and professional development. Contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee work and shared governance. Engage in professional activities relevant to the candidate's area of expertise.Required qualifications include an earned doctoral degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Psychology or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire. Demonstrated record of research and scholarship within the discipline. Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or supporting student success in higher education settings.Preferred qualifications include being licensed as a psychologist or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia, with a demonstrated commitment to obtaining licensure if not currently licensed. Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or counseling psychology. High priority will be given to candidates with expertise and an active research agenda in substance misuse and/or mental health. A record of publishing scholarship in reputable outlets. Experience applying for and potential for success in securing extramural funding. Experience teaching courses related to the department's Mental Health and Well-Being Area, as well as courses in research methods and/or statistics. Evidence of effectiveness in teaching across various modalities (i.e., face-to-face, online, hybrid).
