Athletic Trainer

Athletic Trainer Position Summary This position is a primary staff role in Orthopaedics–Sports Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Athletic Trainer will assist with providing training services for all students, primarily working with campus recreation and club sports. Responsibilities include injury assessment, proper treatment and referrals, coordination with the head athletic trainer for field coverage of high‑risk sports, and participation in teaching activities and clinical instruction of health‑care trainees. The role requires emergency care training and adherence to emergency action plans. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with 0‑2 years of experience, or an acceptable combination of related education and experience. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience in Athletic Training. North Carolina Athletic Training License. Professional CPR certification. Ability to develop and prepare emergency action plans. Compliance with the Athletic Trainer Licensure Act (G.S. 90‑525, 528). Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Master’s Degree. Three years of experience as an Athletic Trainer at the Division IA college level. Additional certifications and skills in soft tissue modalities, dry needling, instrument‑assisted mobilization, and/or blood flow restriction.
