Property Claims Adjuster

Property Claims Adjuster II - CL09DN This position will be accountable for investigating, reserving, assigning, and settling first‑party property losses while delivering superior customer service. The ideal candidate operates in the full‑file model, handling all claims and selecting the proper estimating resource to adjudicate each claim, ensuring that quality standards are met by the vendors used for adjudication. Responsibilities Claim file management involves handling files consistently with claim‑quality standards and goals, negotiating skillfully in challenging situations with internal and external groups, and making independent business decisions to move claims forward as needed. The adjuster consistently provides high‑quality customer service, meets or exceeds expectations, and appropriately manages vendors. Additional responsibilities include assessing claim exposure, resolving assignments, managing deadlines, setting appropriate reserves, identifying and managing subrogation, salvage, and other recovery opportunities, and detecting fraud indicators for investigation. Professionalism and credibility are always demonstrated when interacting with customers, thereby enhancing The Hartford’s reputation in the marketplace. Business acumen involves applying line‑of‑business (LOB) specific competencies for effective claim management, using verbal and numerical critical‑thinking skills to gather information and data, and making sound decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment. Clear and succinct written and verbal communication is required. Teamwork contributions focus on building rapport, fostering constructive relationships within and outside the organization, and supporting The Hartford as a credible, trustworthy, flexible and dependable resource. Courtesy, honesty, integrity, respect, and competence when interacting with others are essential attributes. Qualifications College degree strongly preferred; extracurricular or volunteer activities are desirable. Evidence of career growth. Experience in construction industry preferred, not required. Ability to handle complex and difficult negotiations with urgency. Ability to manage competing priorities while delivering quality and service. Superior desk‑management skills required. Critical‑thinking skills that include investigation, decision‑making, and conflict resolution. Ability to contribute to and promote an inclusive culture of continuous learning built on teamwork, collaboration, transparency, and accountability. Ability to produce clear and grammatically accurate correspondence. Additional Information Adjuster license required to be obtained prior to the start of training. Licensing preparation period will be fully paid from August10,2026 to August21,2026. Successful completion of a multi‑week new‑hire training course is required. Candidates must be available for training from August10,2026 to November6,2026. Training will likely include a one‑week in‑person session in Texas the week of October5,2026. This role can be performed in a hybrid or remote arrangement. Candidates living near one of The Hartford’s office locations (Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Scottsdale, AZ; Naperville, IL; Alpharetta, GA) are expected to work in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote arrangement with occasional office visits as business needs arise. Compensation Annualized base pay range: $59,520–$89,280.
