Assistant Manager – Jersey Mike’s Subs

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: General Manager

Position Summary

Jersey Mike’s Subs is seeking an energetic, dependable, and team-oriented Assistant Manager to help lead daily restaurant operations. The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining high food-quality and cleanliness standards, developing team members, and achieving the restaurant’s performance goals.

The ideal candidate leads by example, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to creating a positive experience for every customer and team member.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the General Manager with daily restaurant operations.

Provide outstanding customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally.

Lead, coach, motivate, and develop team members.

Assign duties and supervise opening, closing, and shift-change procedures.

Ensure sandwiches and other menu items are prepared accurately and according to Jersey Mike’s standards.

Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and organization.

Monitor product quality, portion control, inventory levels, and food waste.

Assist with ordering, receiving, and properly storing food and supplies.

Support employee scheduling and ensure shifts are properly staffed.

Monitor labor usage and help control operating expenses.

Follow cash-handling, register, deposit, and security procedures.

Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new employees.

Ensure company policies, procedures, and brand standards are consistently followed.

Help create a respectful, positive, and team-focused workplace.

Assume responsibility for the restaurant when the General Manager is unavailable.

Qualifications

Previous restaurant, retail, or customer-service leadership experience preferred.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead by example and hold team members accountable.

Dependable, professional, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to provide friendly and efficient customer service.

Basic understanding of labor, food-cost, inventory, and cash-management practices preferred.

Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Must meet all applicable age and food-safety certification requirements.

Reliable transportation is required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Ability to safely operate restaurant equipment.

Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced restaurant conditions.
