Registered Nurse – PICU/PCICU (12-Hour Days)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a mixed PICU/PCICU patient population including cardiovascular, thoracic, neurological, respiratory, surgical, and medical diagnoses
• Care for predominantly PCICU patients including congenital heart defects (from post-surgery through discharge), fresh open hearts, post-cath, medical cardiac conditions (CHF, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis), and post-cardiac arrest cases
• Perform and manage ventilator and trach care, suctioning, chest tubes, epidurals, PCA pumps, drip management, G/GJ/J-tube management, NG tubes, foley insertion/management, and central line care including dressing changes and blood draws
• Apply aseptic and sterile technique, perform basic dressing changes, and conduct peripheral lab draws
• Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend) and remain available for low-census/standby call-in for a later portion of a shift
• Float as needed to MedSurg, ED, NICU Helping Hand, or sitter roles

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Washington (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience, with at least 1 year in a PCICU setting
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Proficiency in caring for cardiac surgical patients and managing complex pediatric diagnoses across acuity levels
• Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills; must be a quick learner and engaged team member

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ECMO experience (ECMO specialist manages the machine; bedside RN supports patient care)
• Peritoneal dialysis experience
• CRRT and Prismax experience (very low volume; typically assigned to core staff)
• Experience with EPIC EMR
