Mental Health and Substance Use Counselling & Treatment Clinician | ASTAT (Golden)

Position Summary A permanent full-time opportunity exists for a Mental Health Counselling & Treatment Clinician to join the welcoming Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT) team at the Golden Health Centre in beautiful Golden, B.C. Interior Health and our partner agencies provide a range of mental health and substance use services for all ages. We are seeking a self‑directed candidate with past and/or current counselling experience, group facilitation experience, positive working knowledge and experience in Mental Health & Substance Use, and general competency in concurrent disorders. This position will support the aftercare/access team as well as the counselling and treatment position and will provide remote support to other areas as needed. The Substance Use Clinician functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and, as a member of a specific MHSU multi‑disciplinary team, has the purpose of ensuring that persons experiencing substance use problems/disorders or concurrent substance use and mental health problems have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services. The Substance Use Clinician provides, at the advanced practice level, assessment, treatment, service coordination and, as required, urgent response to the most complex clients, frequently with co‑occurring disorders, who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The clinician functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families. Scheduling Information Shift times are from 08:30 to 17:00 hours. Days of work are Monday to Friday. Responsibilities Support the aftercare/access team and counselling and treatment positions. Provide remote support to other areas as needed. Assess, treat, coordinate services and respond urgently to complex clients with co‑occurring disorders. Deliver specialized treatment modalities for individuals, groups and families. Qualifications Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position. Two (2) years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current valid B.C.
