Tooling Engineer – High Pressure Die CastingLocation: Northeast Wisconsin – OnsiteRelocation: Available for qualified candidatesEmployment Type: Full-Time, Direct HireOpenings: MultipleCompensation: $95,000 – $120,000 base salary, depending on experiencePotential flexibility for exceptional senior HPDC candidatesAbout the OpportunityOur client is a leading global automotive manufacturing company with a major High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) operation in Wisconsin.They are looking for an experienced Tooling Engineer who understands HPDC tooling from both an engineering and production perspective. This person will be responsible for supporting the development, design, troubleshooting, maintenance and continuous improvement of HPDC dies used in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.This is a hands-on, onsite manufacturing position. The successful candidate will work closely with production, engineering, tooling suppliers and other cross-functional teams to resolve tooling issues and improve die performance, uptime, quality and die life.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, design, modify and maintain high-pressure die casting toolingTroubleshoot tooling and die-related issues directly within a production environmentAnalyze tooling downtime and dimensional data and develop corrective solutionsSupport improvements involving:Die fillingThermal balanceVentingDie lifeCooling/water systemsTooling reliabilityDimensional repeatabilityCreate and maintain tooling CAD, drawings, revisions and spare-part documentationSupport new tool builds, modifications, cavity replacements and die componentsWork with tooling suppliers and internal manufacturing teamsParticipate in tooling design reviews and technical problem-solvingSupport PPAP and manufacturing acceptance activitiesAssist with tooling quotations, budgets, timelines and procurementSupport production during tooling trials, launches and ongoing manufacturingMaintain accurate tooling documentation and revision controlWork with cross-functional teams to improve quality, uptime and production performanceProvide hands-on support when tooling issues require immediate attentionRequired QualificationsThe following are considered absolute requirements:Direct High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) tooling experienceExperience working with HPDC dies/tooling in an actual manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of die design and toolingProficiency with CADExperience troubleshooting and modifying diesAbility to work directly with manufacturing/production teamsStrong mechanical/tooling understandingAssociate degree or equivalent technical education OR strong Journeyman Tool & Die Maker backgroundStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to work 100% onsiteAbility to support production needs outside normal hours when required, including occasional evening/weekend supportPreferred QualificationsAutomotive manufacturing experienceAluminum HPDC experienceDie casting tooling designDie repair/modification experienceDie cooling/water-line experienceVenting and thermal-balance experienceDie filling knowledgeDie-life improvementFlow simulation experience such as MAGMASOFT or similarPPAP/APQP experienceCMM/dimensional data experienceExperience with tooling suppliers and tool buildsSiemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks or similar CAD systemsCNC/toolmaking backgroundJourneyman Toolmaker certificationRelocationCandidates outside the immediate area may be considered if they are genuinely willing to relocate to Northeast Wisconsin.Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
