BlazerJobs

Gretna, LA

Job Description

Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity shaping the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive school environment near Gretna, LA. This assignment begins as soon as possible, lasting through May 27, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week (7 hours per day; 30-minute unpaid lunch). You’ll have the chance to work across one or more campuses, with caseload and age groups to be determined, providing essential instruction and support to students with special needs.

To be considered, active and fully certified educators are required—those with an active Louisiana DOE teaching certificate and SPED endorsement. Please note, the school district is unable to accept Temporary Authority to Teach or Teaching Authorization in lieu of an active certificate. Only candidates with current, valid licensure (ideally in Louisiana) and who have completed the appropriate educator preparation program will be reviewed. For compliance, drug screening and district-specific fingerprinting are required before start.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana DOE certification with Special Education endorsement
  • Recent experience in K-12 special education settings preferred
  • Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills
  • Commitment to individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school teams and families
  • Availability to clear district credentialing requirements including background checks

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support tailored to students’ IEPs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
  • Track and report student progress
  • Foster a positive, nurturing classroom atmosphere
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families

If you're an enthusiastic Special Education Teacher with the required credentials and ready to make an immediate impact, your expertise is needed! Apply today to embark on a meaningful contract supporting students and schools in Louisiana.
