Heat Treatment Operator

Shifts: 1st and 3rd shifts are available. Please indicate what shift the candidate is available to work on the resume.

1st shift schedule: 5 am -1:30 pm

3rd shift schedule: 9 pm – 5:30 am

Safety equipment or PPE required; *** will handle this.

Summary: Assists in heat treat applications for titanium, nickel based alloys, stainless, and alloy steels. Assist with the operation, adjustment and routine maintenance of all furnace controllers. Straightens metal plates, weldments, and structural shapes or preheats them preparatory to welding or bending

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to move parts on and off pallets
  • Ability to read and interpret shop order instructions, specifications and other written and verbal instructions
  • Load and unload furnaces
  • Places work piece into heating furnace for specified period of time
  • Will learn to perform hardness inspection and read conversion table (ASTM E140)
  • Load couple preparation
  • Grinds parts
  • Must have understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions
  • Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED and six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate*** ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be certified to operate a forklift to approved O.S.H.A. standards. Must meet the requirements pertaining to Vision Acuity Testing under the Quality Assurance Manual.

The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
