ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse for a high-acuity environment. The position will involve providing critical care to patients, requiring in-depth expertise in the cardiovascular intensive care unit. This role requires excellent clinical skills and the ability to manage complex patient needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with multi-system organ failure and other critical conditions.
• Provide care for patients post-cardiac surgery, including management of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps and LVADs/RVADs.
• Perform procedures such as arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration.
• Administer continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade medications.
• Conduct EKG interpretation and manage dysrhythmias.
• Utilize advanced monitoring techniques, including Swan Ganz monitoring and CVVHD/CRRT.
• Participate in the care and management of ventilated patients and the administration of BiPAP/CPAP support.
• Implement infection control measures and maintain isolation precautions using appropriate PPE.
• Perform phlebotomy and manage surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Cardiovascular ICU.
• Proven expertise in critical care management and interventions.
• Experience with Epic electronic health records is preferred.

License and Certification Requirements

• Active Illinois nursing license.
• Current CPR, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Schedule Details

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts.
• Required to work every other weekend.
• Holiday shifts may be required on Memorial Day.

Orientation and Training

An 8-hour non-billable orientation will be provided.

Float Requirements

The position may require floating to multiple locations as needed.
