Following the established Woodbridge Township School District Salary Guide Salary $129,010
Perform journeyman level plumbing work in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems throughout the school district.
Reports to: Plumber Foreman and Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
Duties, responsibilities, and authorities:
A. Duties:
1. Assist in planning and overseeing the plumbing activities of helpers when appropriate.
2. Perform work under the supervision of his/her Plumber Foreman and be reviewed through adequacy of the completed tasks.
3. Work a full eight hour day.
4. Install, maintain and repair such facilities as hot water heaters and tanks, showers, lavatories, toilets, urinals, sinks, pipes, etc.
5. Make sketches and drawings and work with blueprints.
6. May be called upon to dig up pavements or breakthrough walls and ceilings in order to run new or repair old hot and cold water lines, gas lines, etc.
7. Install and repair drinking fountains owned by the school district whether they are located inside or outside a school building.
8. Open drains and clean same.
9. Open frozen lines during winter months.
10. Install, repair or replace many and various types of valves.
11. Repair flush-o-meters, flush lines to toilets and any pipes that need replacing.
12. Open clogged roof drains, rain conductors and yard drains.
13. Repair and replace all spigots as needed.
14. Remove, maintain and repair sump pumps.
15. Be responsible for maintaining adequate safety measures and for following legal restrictions in the performance of his/her work.
16. Perform all related work as required.
17. Have a working knowledge of heating plant: a. All pneumatic control switches, indicators and transmitters. b. PH and conductivity devices. c. High and low-level flow alarms. d. All solenoids and controllers.
e. Calibrating instruments. f. Installing controls on boiler water treatment systems. g. Installing level devices for tanks and controls.
18. Must have knowledge of HVAC systems in school buildings and on roof tops.
19. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Plumber Foreman and/or the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
B. Experience/Background:
1. A high school education or equivalent.
2. Must have at least four years experience in the plumbing trade.
C. Personal qualifications:
1. Must be able to perform assigned tasks.
2. Must be mature and possess integrity.
3. Must hold a valid New Jersey driver's license.
4. Must possess a journeyman plumber's license.
5. Must have the ability to get along with one's colleagues, architects, engineers, contractors and the general public.
6. Must have considerable knowledge of principles, methods, tools and procedures of the plumbing trade.
7. Must have considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
8. Must have the ability to follow accurately oral and written instructions.
9. Must have the ability to prepare records and reports of the work performed.
10. Must present a neat appearance and dress suitably for the position.
