Respiratory Therapist III - Lead RT - Full Time - Nights

Responsibilities The Lead Respiratory Therapist must hold the CRT / RRT credential from the NBRC and must be licensed to practice Respiratory Care in the State of Texas. The Lead Respiratory Therapist shall deliver competent and compassionate Respiratory Care Services for patients of all age groups. The Lead Respiratory Therapist shall work cooperatively with all dept. staff, Physicians, Nursing Staff, Ancillary Staff, and other members of the patient care team to maintain standards for professional practices. The Lead Respiratory Therapist is also responsible for assisting the Cardiopulmonary Assistant Manager / Manager in planning, organizing, educating, assessing competence, and supervising other department staff working on their respective shifts. The Lead Respiratory Therapist must be able to perform and monitor Moderately Complex Testing as related to the daily function and operation of the Blood Gas Laboratory. The Lead Respiratory Therapist must perform at an exceptionally high skill level in all Specialty areas. These functions of the Lead Respiratory Therapist shall be carried out according to departmental and hospital policies, the hospital’s mission statement, and the philosophy of the department’s code of ethics. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Practitioner program.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

2 years previous experience in the provision of hospital based Respiratory Care Services.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Certified (CRT) or Registered (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care. Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner License. BLS Healthcare Provider CPR Course Certification through the American Heart Association.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

The Lead Respiratory Therapist, working in a staff position, shall utilize the policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, and standards of patient care set forth by the Cardiopulmonary Department and OakBend Medical Center to deliver patient care and services, perform and monitor Moderately Complex Testing as it relates to the operation of the Blood Gas Laboratory, organize and supervise Respiratory Care Staff, and take part in the on-call staffing rotation. The employee must accept assigned responsibilities as a member of the Health Care Team. Successful completion of any other hospital or department specific training courses may be required.
