Job Description:


- Unit: MedSurg - AC3
- Shifts: 12-hour Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM; EOW
- Bed Capacity:
- 9 beds on Orthopedic Unit
- 13 beds on Inpatient Rehab Unit
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:4 for MedSurg
- 1:6 for Inpatient Rehab
- Certifications Required: BLS
- Common Patient Diagnoses:
- Total knees, hips, and shoulders
- CVAs
- Encephalopathy
- Lumbar fusions
- Clean medical-surgical patients as needed
- Experience/Skills Needed:
- Ortho experience preferred
- Telemetry experience
- IV insertion skills
- Foley catheter placement
- Dressing changes
- Charge Nurse:
- Charge nurse on each shift
- Charge nurses take patient assignments
- Patient Care Tech (PCT) Availability:
- PCTs assist with ADL care and vital signs on nights
- Occasionally, nursing staff provide primary care
- Respiratory Equipment:
- RNs troubleshoot only; RT manages neb tx and CPAP setups
- Telemetry Monitoring:
- Tele patients monitored off-site
- Strips reviewed and recorded once per shift
- All RNs have completed basic rhythm course
- Scheduling:
- No self-scheduling, but flexibility is accommodated
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating Policy:
- May float to another MedSurg unit with similar staffing ratios
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs (not provided)
- Orientation:
- 3 days of classroom orientation
- 2 precepted shifts on the floor
