Assistant Controller

As an Assistant Controller, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall success of the accounting team. Responsibilities: Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures, inclusive of preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations and participating in and preparing for variance reviews. Lead and collaborate on assigned projects, continuously improving departmental quality by creating efficiencies, streamlining repetitive processes, and leveraging technology. Prepare and oversee the preparation of management reports and financial packages for the Controller Submit sales taxes owed on a monthly basis and support the preparation of sales tax filings and other regulatory sales tax compliance requirements. Accurately record hourly employees’ timecard for payroll. Ad hoc duties as required by the company. Work closely with all departments in both accounting and operational capacity. Skills Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. CPA or MBA highly preferred. 5 + years of accounting experience and knowledge of US GAAP. Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, accruals and financial controls. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Experience with Sage Preferred The successful candidate must: Strong team player who is proactive, able to step in to support other team members, shares knowledge to allow cross training, and builds collaborative relationships.
