Substitute teachers must possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; be professional in demeanor and appearance; be punctual, reliable, organized, and flexible. As a substitute teacher, your services and contributions are necessary for the continuity of educational instruction for our students. Responsibilities Following the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom you are substituting in accordance with the district's policies, goals, and objectives. Meeting and instructing assigned classes/duties in the locations and at the times designated. Establishing and maintaining order in the classroom. Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities. Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Committee Policies. Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees. Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Required GED / High School Diploma Previous experience working with children or young adults in educational, recreational, counseling or other supportive roles. Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
