Compensation: Police Officer: $8,419 to $11,416/month. Compensation up to $13,128 with incentives; $20,000 lateral signing bonus.

Education: Lateral Candidates - High school diploma and 30 units of college-level course work.

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment, meet the physical requirements set in the California P.O.S.T. screening manual, and must have passed (within the last 12 months) or be able to pass the P.O.S.T. Those selected will be subject to an interview, a thorough background check, a physical examination, drug screen, psychological evaluation, and polygraph. • Health/Medical Benefit: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Health Net. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. In lieu of medical coverage, the City will contribute $400 (employee only coverage) or $500 (employee + 1 coverage) or $600 (family coverage) into a MissionSquare 457 deferred compensation plan.
• Dental & Vision: City-paid for employee and eligible dependents.
• CalPERS Retirement: Enrollment in 3% @ 55 (Classic Member) or 2.7% @ 57 (PEPRA New Member).

• Special Duty Assignment Pay: Crisis Intervention Team (2.5%), Professional Standards Sergeant (2.5%), Community Resource Officer and School Resource Officer (5%); Evidence/Forensics (2.5%), Detective (5%); Canine Officer and Motorcycle Officer (special extra hourly rate).
• Educational Degree Incentive: 5% Bachelor's Degree; 7.5% MA/MS Degree.
• POST Certificate: 1.25% Intermediate Certificate; 2.5% Advanced Certificate; (non-cumulative).
• Educational Expense Reimbursement: City will reimburse for tuition, books and technology upgrades up to $500 per semester or quarter.
• Bilingual Pay: $75/month, eligible employees.
• On Duty Exercise Program: 1 hour per shift.
• Holidays: City recognizes 14 paid holidays per year.
• Sick Leave: Earned at the rate of one day per month, with no maximum accrual.
• Vacation: Earned at the rate of one day per month in the first year, increasing with service years; Lateral accrual rate may include years of service at former agency.
• The City does not participate in Social Security.
